We are so excited to be hosting the next Songwriting Retreat this spring at Zonkey Studios in Vienna.
The retreats are a space for songwriters and artists to come together to create away from the pressures of the industry and commercial songwriting camps. More than just a camp, we incorporate holistic and restorative elements that will leave you feeling rejuvenated, inspired and nourished by the end of the week!
At the heart of it all lies community. We hope that you will not only come out of the retreat with some bangers under your belt, but with some great friends and long-term collaborators. It all begins with one song...
The Studio
4 large studio rooms flooded with natural daylight, with views of the Austrian countryside from your window. Equipped with the best gear and everything you might need to create your next hit.
Co Writing
Writing time is all yours for however you’d like to spend it, but each day we will pair you up with different songwriters for co-writing in the studio. At the start of each session, it’s up to you who you decide to write for - whether it’s for an artist in the group, or a concept for pitch/sync. There will be a Zonkey producer/engineer in each room from 10am everyday to help facilitate the session.
Workshops
In retreat style, there will be optional workshops running each day for you to get involved in. Walks in the nearby forests, running through trails, perhaps even a dip in the lake if you’re up for braving the cold. We will have journalling workshops on offer, run by Alex who has held writing workshops around Glasgow and London since 2019. We believe that journalling is a therapeutic process, and an amazing tool to help remove blocks to creativity, spark new ideas and transform the songwriting process. We’re excited to share these practices with you!
Food
Food at the retreat will be composed of 3 meals a day, a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. All meals will be vegetarian/vegan and prepared fresh daily, catered to any allergies or intolerances. Using seasonal produce is very important to us - expect nourishing meals such as Thai soup, spring salads, ratatouille, dahl, freshly baked focaccia, cinnamon buns - all lovingly prepared by our wonderful chef Hazel.
